Much like the city of Dubai, which serves as a constant reminder of diversity coexisting and thriving, The Museum of the Future Dubai is a showcase for tolerance, and critical engagement with the far and wide ramifications of growing technologies on the future.
This Dubai Museum combines elements of exhibition, immersive theater and themed attraction, and entices the visitors to look beyond the present and take their place within possible worlds to come. With its floating form, windows in Arabic calligraphy, and space-age finish, The Museum of Future Dubai might be the most complex structure in the city. The Museum of the Future Dubai is a unique initiative by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that explores the future of science, technology and innovation. Open to the public for the first time, the Museum of the Future at the World Government Summit is an exhibition that previews Dubai’s permanent Museum of the Future, which will be opening in 2020.
Built on over five years of immersive exhibitions created for the World Government Summit, with exhibitions focused on the role of future technology in diverse sectors such as government services, healthcare, climate change and food security; High Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has aptly stated the mission of this Dubai Museum.
As stated by him, this Dubai Museum has a mission “to enable the future in Dubai for the betterment of all humanity.”
Focusing on shaping the future of robotics and artificial intelligence and their impact on human life, the Dubai Museum also offers a unique interactive experience to visitors by attempting to explore the future of this sector.
The Museum of Future Dubai is modeled on three underlying themes.
- Firstly, the Museum focuses on the relationship between robots and human beings. It makes one ask: “How does it feel to have robots care for the elderly, and will the relation between robots and humans develop to become similar to inter-human relations?”
- Secondly, it addresses how robots and artificial intelligence improve human mental and physical capabilities. The Museum offers a glimpse into New Knees, a technology that turns the wearer into a half-man, half-cheetah, giving you superhuman abilities to run and jump.
- The third theme aims to showcase how the development of artificial intelligence technologies will affect the management and decision making processes. It makes visitors ask questions like how confident we are when it comes to letting artificial intelligence systems manage their own money and select their own careers.
A city filled with tall and shiny skyscrapers producing an organic, curvy, cutting edge yet welcoming and culturally strong design on such a massive scale: The Dubai Museum of the Future is indeed one of a kind much needed human-centric project.
